Millennials have been through a lot of beauty trends!!! From frosted eyeshadow, to body glitter, to pencil-thin brows we have run the race. While some of these trends were definitely fun at the time, a recent survey by LaserAway found that 49% of millennials regret the beauty trends they followed in their younger days. The top three regrets were:
Side parts: 35% of millennials regret getting side parts, which were popular in the early 2000s.
Butterfly clips: 30% of millennials regret wearing butterfly clips, which were popular in the 1990s.
Frosted eyeshadow: 25% of millennials regret wearing frost eyeshadow, which was popular in the 1980s.
I quite liked all of these trends, and still love them, so I can’t relate to these regrets, but one thing I can say thankfully, is that none of these were anything close to permanent.
These days permanent procedures, such as laser hair removal and cosmetic surgery, are extremely popular because they are designed to produce long-lasting results. That said, we’ve already seen many body trends change and many people regretting and/or opting to reverse their procedures. Who would have known that our permanent and semi-permanent procedures would ever go out of style?
There are a few things you can do to avoid beauty regrets:
Do your research: Before you get any beauty procedure, be sure to do your research and understand the risks and benefits. Talk to your doctor or a qualified esthetician about your options.
Be realistic: Don't expect perfection. Beauty procedures can improve your appearance, but they can't make you look like someone else.
Try not-so-permanent: Not so permanent procedures are those that produce temporary results. These are a great way to try out the trends without committing permanently
Be prepared for side effects: All beauty procedures have some risk of side effects. Be prepared for these risks and have a plan in place if they occur.
Remember, regardless of your aesthetic choices, you are beautiful just the way you are. Beauty is not about following trends or having the perfect body. It's about being confident in who you are. Don’t be afraid to experiment with your look and find what makes you feel good. That said, if you do ever make a beauty mistake, don't sweat it. Everyone makes mistakes. Just learn from it and move on.
Ultimately, the decision of whether to choose a permanent or not so permanent procedure is a personal one. There is no right or wrong answer, and the best choice for you will depend on your individual needs and goals.
